HABC Level 2 Award for Up-Skilling Door Supervisors

From March 2012 the SIA introduced the requirement for existing Door Supervisors who have already achieved the pre-QCF Door Supervisors Qualification must undertake additional training in order to renew their licence. You may take this qualification if you completed your original qualification before the QCF Door Supervisors qualifications in August 2010 which did not include physical intervention or safety awareness. You will be required to prove that your current licence has expired NO longer than three years prior to your attendance of this course. This new course will upskill door supervisors to the level attained by those who took a course and qualification after August 2010.

The new qualification comprises the following two mandatory units:

•    Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
•    assessed by a practical test and a written True/False
•    test which is set by HABC and marked by the tutor.
•    Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors
•    assessed by a 10-question multiple-choice examination
•    which is set by HABC and marked by the tutor.

The new Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors unit of assessment and workbook has been developed to cover the following subjects within the security sector:

•    Counter Terrorism
•    First Aid Awareness
•    Dealing with Children and Young People

The workbook will be sent out prior to the commencement of the course and must be brought to the course completed.

If you gained your qualification pre 2010 then you won’t have undertaken some of the training that people with the newer qualifications will have received.

If this applies to you, you will need to take an ‘Up-Skilling for Door Supervisors’ Level Two award before you can renew your licence. The qualification involves one day of training covering physical intervention, first aid, awareness of terrorist threats and considerations in dealing with children and young people.
